The crater (610 metres deep and 260 km squared) is a microcosm of East African scenery, forests and thick bush cover the crater rim, as one descends further down into the crater the forest suddenly comes to an end and the scenery of trees and then vast open plains and lake Magadi far in the background is simply breathtaking.
