With a tropical forested Mountain on one side and a beautiful shoreline and lake on the other, the scenery from Greystoke Mahale Camp is simply breathtaking. A small sanctuary in a remote part of pristine Africa.
Apart from the spectacular surroundings, there another reason to visit Mahale and that is for the Chimps. The forested slopes of the Mahale Mountains that rise behind Greystoke Mahale camp are home to the world’s largest known population of chimpanzees!
What Africa Uncovered says...
Greystoke Mahale is a mystical and stunningly beautiful place and the perfect place for Chimp trekking. Combining Mahale with a safari in Katavi National Park is highly recommended.
Greystoke Mahale is a unique and stylish camp consisting of 6 thatched chalets stretched out along a pristine palm-lined beach. Individually decorated with local fabrics and colourful driftwood, the chalets all have plenty of space, broad views straight onto the lake and a separate private bathroom.
Activities at Greystoke Mahale include chimp tracking, snorkelling, Kayaking, fishing, swimming and hiking on the many forest trails leading up the 2,500m peaks overlooking the camp.
Chimp Trekking in the morning followed by a swim in the cool clear waters of Lake Tanganyika are an ideal recipe to reinvigorate the soul.
