Mokete means feast in Sesotho. This area is certainly a feast when it comes to top quality wildlife viewing. There is the Mopane Woodland which lies on the fringes of the open grasslands. This area is where you are likely to see leopard, wild dogs, buffalo, kudu and sable. Then there are the vast open grasslands which attract herds in their thousands. Some of the biggest herds of buffalo in Africa, trailed by at least 3 lion prides. Migrating zebra herds, giraffe, huge herds of elephant, tsessebe, roan antelope and wildebeest. Jackals, Cheetah and Hyena are also often seen along with warthog that have a distinctive white colour.
There is a lot of wildlife activity in and around the wetlands area. Animals must quench their thirst and cool off from the African heat and lying in wait are the ever hungry lions of the Mababe.
