Baraza Overview

Baraza lies on the south eastern coast of the island of Zanzibar, along the award winning Bwejuu beach, recently voted by Conde Nast as one of the top 30 island beaches in the world. The Resort is situated on a 400 meter stretch of fine sand beach, with a coral reef facing the beach that runs down the eastern shore of Zanzibar.

This beautiful resort evokes the heritage of Zanzibar dating back to the era of the Sultans. A fusion of Arabic, Swahili and Indian design, with beautiful arches, intricate hand carved cement décor, beautiful antiques, hand made furniture and intricate brass lanterns, Baraza will offer unparallel standards of luxury on the Island of Zanzibar.

Baraza is located along a near perfect white sandy beach and offers outstanding accommodation and service. The Ocean front villas with private plunge pool are outstanding for a Honeymoon stay and the 2 bedroom garden villas are perfect for families.

Baraza Accommodation

There are 14 one bedroom villas and 15 two bedroom villas, as well as one Presidential two bedrooms suite. All the accommodation villas are designed to characterize classic Swahili architecture featuring dramatic arches, cement baraza benches and intricate hand carved cement decorations. The spacious villas feature luxury interiors, beautiful fabrics, hand carved furniture and brass lanterns, large bathrooms with luxury fittings as well as a spacious terrace and private plunge pool.

PRESIDENTIAL TWO BEDROOM VILLA – OCEAN FRONT – 254 sq meters Two master bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom and freestanding bath, walk in dressing room and terrace. A central living room with spectacular sea front view, large plunge pool, outdoor daybed lounging area and terrace with sun loungers. The Presidential Suite also features a small kitchenette and a small separate guest washroom. There is also a separate, self-contained accommodation for maid or butler adjacent to the presidential suite.

ACTIVITIES

The beautiful coral reef which stretches across the coast, makes swimming and snorkelling safe and ensures the beaches have the finest white powder sand. Diving is also excellent and there is also an array of water activities and reef safaris on offer (with applicable charges). Baraza is also ideally located for those wishing to head out on a Dolphin Tour, to swim with dolphins or an excursion to Jozani forest which is home to the Red Colobus monkey.
