Abu Camp

Features & Highlights

Abu Camp Lodge Summary

Abu Camp is set in an ancient riverine forest on a 180,000 hectare private reserve. Abu allows guests the extraordinary privilege of being part of an Elephant herd, to interact with the herd, meet each individual and observe their behaviour. These Elephant encounters provide magical moments, including walking with the herd through the bush and watching them feed.

Abu Camp Description

Abu Camp consists of 6 custom-built, stylishly furnished tents with en-suite bathrooms. Each tent has it’s own tree-shaded deck overlooking a lagoon filled with bird and animal life. The main area is built on raised wooden decks that wind around African Ebony and Sycamore Fig trees, creating a dappled, cool atmosphere.

The lounge and dining tent has a breathtaking view over the lagoon and also features a well-stocked library and study. Sundowners around a traditional camp fire are followed by 5* meals prepared by expert chefs and served with the finest wines. For a couple or family looking for the ultimate in bush luxury and exclusivity, the Elephant Suite is situated across the lagoon.

ACTIVITIES & WILDLIFE

Guests at Abu Camp are invited to share with the resident elephant family what is, without doubt, the ultimate elephant education safari. Abu also offers game drives, night drives, walks and mokoro (dugout canoe) safaris (water level dependent) – as well as the most intimate elephant learning experience in Africa.
