Camp Description
Accommodation consists of eight spacious East African style tents built on elevated wooden decks, beneath a lush tree canopy. Each tented room has en-suite facilities with flush toilets and both outdoor and indoor showers. Hot showers are guaranteed anytime of day or night. The thatched dining area, lounge and pub are also raised on decks overlooking the surrounding flood plains. A pool allows guests to cool off from the heat of the day.
Activities and Wildlife
Located alongside the Moremi Game Reserve, the area is made up of a variety of habitats including waterways, marshlands, dry Acacia & Mopane woodland, riverine areas, open grasslands and seasonally flooded plains providing classic Okavango scenery.
Activities consist of day and night game drives in open 4×4 vehicles accompanied by an experienced guide. Nature walks, tailor made to suit the guests are also offered. Game viewing is good, and includes Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Reedbuck, Giraffe, Impala, Zebra, Buffalo and Hippo. Depending on the time of year, Wild Dogs are also resident in the area. Night drives can be very rewarding, with good sightings of the rarer nocturnal animals.
One of the biggest assets Chitabe has to offer is its friendly and outstanding staff. Most of the staff working at Chitabe have been there since its inception seven years ago and it is this pride and loyalty that gives Chitabe its amazing atmosphere. It is without a doubt the “Soul of the Delta”.
Access into the Chitabe area is only by aircraft.
