LAKE KARIBA, MATUSADONA & MANA POOLS

Lake Kariba is one of the largest man made dams in the world, covering an area of approximately 6,000 sq km. Lake Kariba is a place of outstanding beauty, nestled between mountains and tweak forest is a great inland sea that is dotted with islands. These numerous islands and waterways cause the wildlife, especially elephant, to swim quite frequently which allows for fantastic game viewing from a boat. Lake Kariba is also renowned for good fishing, especially the thrill and fight involved in landing a tiger fish. However, the lasting memories one always has of Lake Kariba, are the breathtaking sunsets.

Matusadona National Park lies along the southern shores of Lake Kariba. It is a brilliant game viewing park, and with game drives, walking safaris, boat and canoe trips, it makes for an excellent safari location.

Mana Pools National Park Safaris

The Mana Pools are Zimbabwe’s second world heritage site, and are situated on the Zambezi River. They consist of four main pools that are scattered along the river. The area also consists of large Acacia trees and open grassy fields. One gets a prevailing sense of “wild and untamed Africa” when staying at Mana Pools as the area is so remote and filled with magnificent wild animals. Accommodation is provided in luxury bush camps and lodges right on the Zambezi River. Mana Pools is all about getting close to the wild and untamed animals that roam this land, with only your fear to protect you. Gliding along the river in a canoe within metres of elephant, buffalo and crocodiles, is the speciality of this region. Game drives and bush walks are also great ways to get right up close to the animals.
