Tongabezi Fact Sheet

TIPPING / GRATUITIES

Tipping is by no means compulsory and is completely at the guest’s discretion. If, however, you do want to tip for good service received during your stay then this would be hugely appreciated by staff, the following can act as a guideline to assist you.

a) Guides
If the guide has done a good job, we recommend $5.00 per day

b) Valets
If you are happy with the service the valets have offered throughout your stay we recommend $5.00 a day

c) General Lodge staff
If you are happy with your overall experience at Tongabezi, we recommend $5.00 per person per night to be left in the communal tipping box at reception.

RECOMMENDED ITEMS REQUIRED

· Good quality sunglasses—preferably polarised.
· Sun hat
· Long sleeved tops and trousers for the evenings
· Good walking shoes
· Sandals—Walks at the Falls and on the island are very wet and rain Macs are provided however shoes may get ruined by spray.
· Swimming costume
· Warm jumper for cooler evenings
· Warm anorak or parka and scarf / gloves for the colder winter months (May to September)
· Light rain gear for summer months (November—April)
· Socks are recommended for the evenings.
· Camera equipment and plenty of film
· If you wear contact lenses we recommend you bring a pair of glasses in case dust irritates your eyes.
· Binoculars
· Malaria tablets
· Sun tan lotion—high factors are recommended as the sun is very strong even on darker skin.
· Moisturiser and lip salve.
· Strong Insect repellent (high Deet factor)
· Basic medical kit—aspirins, plasters, Imodium, antiseptic cream and anti-histamine cream and tablets as well as sting relief cream / spray.
· Tissues / Wet wipes
· Visas / tickets / money / passports
· Waterproof / dustproof bags—covers for your cameras.
· A torch is recommended.
· Gifts for children at Tujatane School – (www.tujatane.com)
· If you are combining Tongabezi with a safari you will need to bring appropriate khaki coloured clothing and a pair of good walking shoes.

COMMUNICATIONS

There is no mobile phone reception in the lodge however it is possible to get reception from the Tongabezi car park or in town. We do not have internet connection in our rooms, but if necessary you can check your emails at reception.
