Old Mondoro Camp Fact Sheet

A Day in the Life: The day starts with a wake-up call about 15 minutes before sunrise. Guests meet by the campfire for a light breakfast and depart for morning safari activity soon after. Guests return to camp about 11am and a brunch buffet with optional full English breakfast is served around midday. Guest’s typically siesta or relax until afternoon tea which is served around 15:30 with sweet and savoury snacks before the afternoon activity which usually culminates in a night drive returning to camp about 20:00. Drinks and snacks are served at the bar or by the camp fire until a 3 course dinner is served. Coffee and liqueurs are offered after dinner and guests typically turn in for the night around 22:00.

ACCOMMODATION
8 beds for independent travellers in 4 bush chalets; or 10 beds for Groups by special request.

Two bush chalets each with two twin/single size beds, and two bush chalets each with a double, plus one guide/pilot bush chalet with two twin/single beds.

Access: Old Mondoro is a 1-hour motorboat ride, or a two-hour game drive, or an 8-hour canoe trip away from Chiawa Camp. Jeki Airstrip is only a 30 minute game drive away but Royal Airstrip is nearly 3 hours away. Old Mondoro is 35km downstream from Chiawa Camp so canoeing from OM to CC is not available.

Safety: Old Mondoro has an unblemished safety record and takes precautions to maintain this. All guests are given comprehensive briefings upon arrival and before activities, and all activities are led by qualified and experienced guides with First Aid training. Each tent has a whistle to call management in an emergency. Old Mondoro has 24 hour contact with the rest of the world via Chiawa Camp.
