Pafuri Camp caters more for the traditional Kruger Park visitor, as it is the only camp accessible to self-drivers in the extreme northern sector of the Park. This area is certainly the wildest and most remote part of the Park and offers varied vegetation, great game viewing, the best birding in all of the Kruger Park and is filled with folklore of the early explorers and ancient civilisations

Pafuri Camp is located in the same 52,000 acre Makuleke Reserve within northern Kruger Park. The camp is situated on a gentle bend on the northern bank of the Luvuvhu River shaded by large Ebony trees. Being so different from the rest of the Park it complements the scenery and experience offered at the lodges in the southern Kruger and the Sabi Sands and so travellers visiting any of the lodges in the south should then travel up to the Pafuri / Makuleke region to get the full Kruger experience.
Twenty six air-conditioned tented rooms raised two metres off the ground on wooden platforms and walkways, family rooms, en-suite bathroom facilities, swimming pools. A dinner, bed and breakfast tariff is offered and the option to book onto any one of the exclusive activities.

Large herds of elephant and buffalo are resident most of the year round. There are resident prides of lion and a healthy population of leopard. Wild dog and Cheetah have been sighted hunting the strong population of Nyala and Impala that live alongside the Luvuvhu system on the southern boundary. On the eastern most boundary at “Crooks Corner” the Luvuvhu supports a large population of hippo and crocodile. The Makuleke Concession is regarded as probably the birding hotspot of South Africa with specialities such as Pel’s Fishing Owl, Wattle-eyed Flycatcher, Golden backed Pytilia, Crowned Eagles and Racket-tailed rollers.
Pafuri Camp offers some exceptional activities including game drives in open 4×4 vehicles, night drives throughout the concession, birding walks, foot safaris and mountain biking with an armed guide.
