Along the Marico river lies a piece of Eden. Where the animal kingdom lives united, against the uncontested authority of the Big Five. Where the horizon is immortalised by the palette of the sun and Africa draws her breath. The Madikwe Game Reserve, heralded as the boutique reserve in South Africa, with 76 500 hectares of malaria-free bushveld, is host to the elegant and luxurious Royal Madikwe.

The Madikwe game reserve hosts all of the Big Five, Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino, and Buffalo in large concentrations, as well as Cheetah, Hyena, Sable, Eland, Gemsbok, Giraffe, and the speciality of the area—the endangered Wild Dog. Large herds of plains game and over 300 species of bird are also endemic to this reserve. The Royal Madikwe Lodge offers both morning and evening game drives to give guests the opportunity to seek out this awesome array of wildlife.
The Madikwe Game Reserve is easily accessed by daily flight or road charter [three and a half hours from Johannesburg].

Silhouetted against a backdrop of colonial luxury and unsurpassed hospitality is The Royal Madikwe. Nature plays out her architectural skill, as Red Ivory and Marula trees fuse in a celebration of contemporary design to create the main lodge. Here guests find respite in the well-appointed lounge, dining room, bar and library, while your private sanctuary awaits in one of only five sumptuous chalets.
Crisp, cool linen meets indigenous dark wood to create your luxurious repose. The African setting is invited in, as unhurried space includes both indoor and outdoor showers. Accessorised with a covered patio and plunge pool, days may be spent overlooking a well-frequented waterhole in complete privacy. Take pleasure in Cabernet al fresco before joining the main table or retreating to a more intimate setting, where under a canopy of constellations, freshly prepared, modern cuisine is served.
