ISANDLWANA LODGE

Natal Battle fields

Situated about 75km from the town of Dundee and four hours from Durban in the heart of the battlefields, this picturesque lodge is strategically perched on the side of the iNyoni mountain, overlooking the historic battlefields of the Anglo Zulu war where a British force under Lord Chelmsford’s command was massacred by 20,000 spear-wielding, shield-banging warriors. The slopes of the Isandlwana Hill opposite the lodge is the battlefield where the worst defeat ever suffered by the British in Africa took place in 1879.
