Lodge Description
Elephant Plains Game Lodge accommodates a maximum of 24 guests in comfortable style and affordable luxury. The lodge is comprised of 3 different types of accommodation: standard rondavels, luxury chalets or suites and the Honeymoon Suite. The lodge is situated on the banks of a river and from the elevated position of the lodge, guests have quite remarkable views of the African bush. The pool deck at Elephant Plains overlooks the watering hole opposite the camp where animals come to drink, especially in the dry season when water in the bush is a very scarce commodity. The main lodge houses the reception, dining room, bar/lounge, library, wine cellar and curio shop.
The six luxury suites at Elephant Plains Game Lodge, each have a lounge area and private deck with views of the riverbed. All the luxury suites also have air-conditioning, overhead fans, wood fires, mosquito nets and a safe. A further five original rondavels are set in a beautifully landscaped garden. All rooms have en suite bathrooms with shower, bath and air-conditioning. Adjacent to the swimming pool, the wooden deck offers spectacular views overlooking the waterhole and scenic plain. Meals are taken in the open-air boma or thatched lapa, ensuring an unforgettable African dining experience.
Activities and Wildlife
The highlight of your visit to Elephant Plains Game Lodge will undoubtedly be the thrill of discovering wildlife from the safety of open vehicles. The 4-wheel drive vehicles enable the rangers to drive off-road and provide guests with up close game viewing and great photographic opportunities. The game drives are all led by an experienced game ranger and a local Shangaan tracker. The day starts with an early morning game drive, and then after breakfast a bush walk gives you the opportunity to learn about the smaller wonders of the bush. During the afternoon game drive you will stop at a carefully selected venue to enjoy a sun-downer whilst watching the sun set over the awe-inspiring wilderness, before continuing on a night drive using spotlights to look for nocturnal animals.
