Itinerary & Fact Sheet

TarangireSerengetiLoliondo

We’d recommend at least 2 nights at Nomad Tarangire, to start your Flying Wildebeest Feast, with days spent marvelling at the elephants and dramatic baobab scenery. Take advantage of the freedom the park offers to head out on daily walking safaris, and even a night out fly camping. After your last morning’s walk, fly through to our Serengeti Safari camp, arriving fresh and ready to go by lunch.

Serengeti Safari Camp is all about the big picture; where densities of animals are mostly higher, and chances of seeing large predators often greater. It’s the base for exciting game drives – conquering the landscapes and absorbing the sheer hugeness of it all. Spend 3 nights here and you’ll get the full Serengeti game experience, before heading off on the next step of your adventure.

A leisurely morning game drive across to Loliondo Safari Camp, will get you there in time for lunch and an afternoon that is totally yours to plan. Now is the time to step out, stretch your legs and take an afternoons walk through the stunning areas surrounding the camp. Your guide will accompany you, showing you all the marvels of the bush in greater detail. Finish the day with a sundowner or two on top of a rocky outcrop, before heading back to camp on a night drive.

ACCOMMODATION

Nomad Tarangire

Nomad Tarangire is a new 8 bed camp in Tarangire National Park. This small and stylish camp (think Bedouin meets the bush) will offer the ultimate all round Tarangire experience, combining game drives in the key game spots, with opportunities for exciting walking safaris and fly camping expeditions within the remote wilderness areas of the park. Tarangire doesn’t get better than this! The unique design of the new tents offer comfort, space, and light and are designed to take full advantage of the passing breezes. The mess and dining tent is spacious, welcoming, and funky, and definitely somewhere to spend a relaxed afternoon, either inside in the library/lounge area or in the shade of a tree lying in a hammock soaking up the Tarangire vibe. The landscape is famous for its Baobab trees which are scattered throughout the park. It’s a strong, rolling wilderness that over the last hundred years has earned the respect of the bush-wise, first as a hunting ground, and now as a vital wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania’s Great Rift Valley. Pristine bush, extensive wetlands, and permanent rivers attract masses of game into the national park’s 2600 square kms, not least of which, a phenomenal number of elephants.

Serengeti Safari Camp

Serengeti Safari Camp travels within the boundaries of the Serengeti National Park, a giant picture of wild Tanzania – masses of animals, contrasting landforms, and of course the Migration. The camps themselves are semi nomadic, they won’t move whilst you’re there, but they’re actually on a wide orbit shadowing the migration; so you, your private guide and 4WD vehicle are as close to a million wildebeest as possible. And daily game drives will take you out into the midst of this big game country.

Four classic canvas safari tents sit on their own beautiful patch of Africa. The bathrooms are en-suite, with traditional safari style bucket showers, short drop toilets, and hot and cold water available on demand. The camps themselves are well equipped but light and simple. All you have to do is arrive in camp at the end of every dramatic day – tired, wired, and dusty – to hot showers, ice filled gin and tonics, and a roaring campfire.

The days end with dinner, stars and a bed tent furnished with everything a great adventurer could wish for. With ever changing weather and game conditions, mobility and flexibility to move within the park is key to staying close to the action. We provide this with no compromise on quality or comfort. You have total freedom and flexibility to plan your own adventures and expeditions, with a dedicated guide on hand. This is a pure game experience – the ideal compliment to Tarangire and Loliondo.

Loliondo Safari Camp

Loliondo Safari Camp moves through magical landscapes just outside the park – with a real freedom to get much closer to nature and the Maasai. It’s where you can get out of your vehicle and walk – where the bush reveals itself in minute detail and where you can really start feeling and breathing Africa. Although game drives remain a feature here, we strongly recommend devoting time to walking safaris and night drives, neither of which are normally possible within the Serengeti National Park itself. Enjoy the freedom of lengthy picnics under a large tree overlooking a stunning view; lunch ‘al fresco’ will never have tasted so good. This is the time to slow down, get out of your vehicle and take on a different pace. See the things that you might otherwise not notice; a fascinating new world reveals itself through the eyes of our Maasai guides who will accompany you.

The location of the camp varies throughout the Loliondo Maasai concession area, dependent on weather and game conditions. Stunning campsites are positioned close to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro park boundaries, offering the best safari opportunities. Staying in Nomad conservation areas, you’re also helping to protect vital areas bordering the park, and supporting tribes that live cheek by jowl with the wild.
