Namibia’s Skeleton Coast is one of our planet’s most beautiful places and is now host to one of our finest safaris. Over much of the past decade, access to this private area within the National Park has been restricted. Close on 300,000 hectares (660,000 acres) of the National Park has been set aside as an exclusive safari experience for those who want to really get away! It is wild, desolate and uninhabited – and stunningly beautiful.

Skeleton Coast Camp has exclusive use of about 600,000 acres of the Skeleton Coast Park. The camp has 7 luxury-tented rooms with en-suite bathrooms, and there is an open-air dining “room” under an ancient Leadwood tree. Breakfast is enjoyed in camp and then guests are taken into the surrounding countryside for a full and rewarding day.

This area has everything from soaring sand dunes to towering canyons and mountains; saltpans; seal colonies and shipwrecks. Though the area is renowned for it’s aesthetic value and not game viewing, the stark contrast between the harsh environment and the animals that inhabit it make this area spectacular. Freshwater springs sustain animal life and guests can view Springbok, Oryx, Gemsbok, Desert Elephant, Cape Fox, Bat Eared Fox, Cape Fur Seal, Brown Hyena, Jackal, Honey Badger, Genet, Ostrich, Porcupine, Giraffe, Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra, Black-faced Springbok and occasionally Lion and Cheetah. The cool ocean air meets the warm desert air and nearly every morning mists cover the coastline, bringing life sustaining moisture to the desert’s fauna and flora. Bird watching is also good.
