Mvuu Wilderness Lodge is situated along the banks of the Shire River in Liwonde National Park, Malawi’s premier wildlife reserve.
The Lodge nestles discreetly in a lagoon just off the Shire River with the main lodge building set high above the water. Mvuu offers exclusive accommodation in spacious, luxurious tents. The 5 tents each have en-suite bathroom facilities and a private veranda raised over the lagoon, ensuring prime and discreet wildlife viewing. Lodge facilities include a dining room, pub and lounge area, and a natural rock swimming pool.
Mvuu Wilderness Lodge is situated along the banks of the Shire River in Liwonde National Park, Malawi’s premier wildlife reserve. The Shire River is the main drainage river for Lake Malawi and is a large fast flowing river that dissects the park and brings water year round to its wildlife. A great diversity of animals can be seen including large number of Elephant, Sable Antelope, Hippo, Impala, Waterbuck, Black Rhino and Lion. Huge Crocodiles, Leopard and Serval are fairly common. Birds are prolific and this camp probably offers the best year round birding of any camp in the Wilderness portfolio, the African Fish Eagle, Palm Nut Vulture and the Pel’s Fishing Owl are frequently sighted, as well as Böhm’s Bee-eater, White Backed Night Heron and a host of local “specials”. Our birding record is 266 different species in a two night stay.
Activities to be enjoyed include boating in stable handmade wooden boats, Game drives (morning, afternoon and evening), nature walks, bike rides and fishing.
