It means up to 16 people have, to themselves, a beautiful bend of the Mara River.
We’ve picked a spot where animals come to drink, hippo laze in the shallows, elephant bring their calves for a playful dip. The forest around the camp is home to many beautiful birds from rare trogan’s and turacos to nesting hornbills. Personal attention is the hallmark of a stay here. Governors’ Private Camp Description
The tents are luxurious with handmade furniture. Private bathrooms have flush-toilets, hot showers, with crystal-clear water whenever you wish. The food is delicious, our desserts have been called “sinful”, and the drinks all free, except for champagne. Meals are served on fine china and crystal. You can even tailor your own menus with our Executive Chef.
At Governors’ Private Camp you benefit from our very best guides and trackers, whose knowledge of the Reserve is unsurpassed. Backed by the vast resources of the Governors’ Family of Camps this is the ultimate safari. Governors’ Private Camp must be booked by a minimum of four guests staying for at least three nights.
Activities and Wildlife
The Masai Mara is a unique area with a constant and unrivalled flow of wildlife throughout the year. From July to October the Mara becomes a backdrop for one of the last great natural wonders of the world, when 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra surge up from the Serengeti plains in their annual search for the seasonal grasses that sustain them. The spectacle as the vast herds cross rivers and sweep through the golden grasses, is punctuated by individual struggles with the predators, which are in turn drawn to take their part in this dramatic event. Whilst the migration is spectacular, game viewing at all other times of the year remains almost unrivalled anywhere in Africa.
There are various activities on offer at Governors’ Private Camp: game drives in open Landrovers, game walks or balloon flights over the wide plains of the Masai Mara. Day excursions to the Lake Victoria are also on offer. The thrill of a brush with Africa’s big game is what brings people to the Masai Mara. Get up close to the big cats on a game drive in a custom-built four-wheel-drive vehicle. Come face to face with nature in the raw on a walking safari. Or see life in a traditional Masai village.
For the experience of a lifetime, drift with the dawn over the plains on a hot-air balloon safari then feast on a champagne breakfast in the bush. Just 40 minutes flying time from the Masai Mara, at Lake Victoria, you can try to catch one of the biggest fish you’re ever likely to land, take a dip in at the source of the Nile, see the lake’s wonderful bird life, and explore the beautiful island scenery.
