Savuti Camp is a luxury tented safari camp and an excellent base for a safari to the Chobe and Linyanti regions of Botswana. Savuti Camp is situated in the Linyanti Reserve along the Savuti Channel in northern Botswana. The camp is built about 17 kilometres “downstream” from the source of the Savuti. The channel stopped flowing in 1980 and what was a Hippo-filled river, is now wide, open grasslands. Wildlife in the Savuti area includes all of Botswana’s big game, and is one of the best areas in the country to see predators.

Savuti Camp Description

Savuti Camp Bedroom

Savuti Camp is a comfortable intimate camp located in an isolated area of the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve. Accommodation at Savuti is in 5 large walk-in tents with en-suite facilities. Each tent has a bathroom and shower, hand basin and flush toilet. Three of the bathrooms are within the tents and two tents have more open bathrooms with wonderful open fronts and great views facing onto the Savuti Channel. Each room is raised off the ground on wooden decks. The camp has a thatched dining area, pub and plunge pool, all on raised wooden decks. There is a waterhole close to Savuti Camp and this attracts large numbers of animals that guests can view from the comfort of their tents, the main bar or the excellent viewing deck situated in front of the main bar area.

Activities and Wildlife at Savuti Camp

Savuti Camp Safari

Activities include game drives in open 4×4 Land Rovers, hides, night drives and walks with an armed guard. Game in the area includes all of Botswana’s big game, and is one of the best areas in the country to see predators. There are also good concentrations of plains game in the area. What used to be a hippo-filled river is now wide, open grassland, and legendary predators’ enclave.

Savuti Camp’s woodpile hide is famous for the best Elephant viewing where one literally feels what it is like to be with a herd of elephant. Game concentrations are high, particularly in winter. Besides the plains game, there are Sable, Giraffe, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild Dog, and a dense Elephant population. The waterhole in front of the camp is the only source of water over a large area in winter and offers marvellous wildlife viewing directly from the camp.
